This is how you find your personal spirit animal

Indigenous peoples around the world believed that the spirits of animals offered protection, advice and healing. We too can benefit from our power or soul animal and look for something valuable. Learn below how you find your personal spirit animal and what it means.

Soul animals, or force animals, have their origins in shamanism, an ancient traditional healing system. They should protect the people and guide them on their way. Every animal has a different meaning and message. Anyone who knows how to interpret his power, experiences exciting things about himself and the future.

How do I recognize my personal soul animal?

First of all, you have to understand that you cannot choose “I want a wolf to be my spirit animal guide”. Your soul animal is the embodiment of your subconsciousness – and you cannot pick your subconscious either. Be open to what is coming.

Normally a spirit animal shows up in moments when you are quite calm and relaxed. For example during a meditation or in your dreams.

But they can also show themselves to you in the real world, for example, when a wild animal shows itself to you very often in a short time, or it behaves strangely in your presence.

There is not “the one” way to find one’s spirit animal. You have to be alert; open your heart and soul to discover it.

Where can I find my soul animal?

As already briefly mentioned above, there are three main ways in which most people discover their soul animal: during meditation, in their dreams or through observation of the environment.

Meditation

In meditation, you can eliminate the loud everyday life around you and focus on your inner self.

If you want to meet your soul animal in meditation, then you should not be too dogged. Concentrate on meeting any animal, maybe several. Be very open, very relaxed.

Is there an animal that keeps sneaking into your consciousness? Do not ignore that. It may not be the animal you had hoped for, but it has its reason why it is just that animal. And you should fathom this reason.

Dreams

Unlike meditation, we cannot normally control our dreams. We process in our dreams what happened to us during the day and what moves us deep within. In our dreams, our subconscious speaks to us.

When you wake up in the morning, write down what you dreamed – before you forget it. Maybe after a while, you will notice that a certain animal appears again and again …

Observation

When you’re on the move, especially when you’re out in the wild, be alert. Watch closely what happens around you. If an animal is near you,  no matter which one, watch it. Do not be afraid, be open. Is an animal behaving abnormally in your presence? Pay attention to whether this happens more often to a particular animal or species. Maybe that has a meaning.
