You must be living fearlessly in order to become happy and free
Today, I would like to explain to you why it is vital to living fearlessly if you wish to become fulfilled and free.
What is the opposite of fear?
Actually there is no really one fitting expression. However, since it is fear that makes a joy-filled life impossible, the text has been given the headline: “live fearlessly”.
Panic attacks and anxiety seem to be a phenomenon of our time. In the Middle Ages, when life was actually still dangerous, people probably suffered less than today.
But do you know the number one thing to blame for this development? Believe it, or not, the TV is the culprit. We are closely involved in the news, in every tornado or tsunami, which fuels our fear of the unpredictable.
Secondly, we are spoiled by our insurance policies. There is no all-round protection, even if the various providers would like to talk us into it. Thus, the residual risk always remains. People had to live with this in the past and it will continue to be so in the future.
If the thoughts only revolve around one of these things, which in all probability never will be occurring, then we need urgent countermeasures.
Fear can paralyze, it takes your breath away, and fear can lead to reactions that would otherwise never be possible.
Where does the fear come from?
This certainly varies from person to person. Fear is something normal in itself, as long as it stays limited and as long as there is actually a reason for the emotion to exist.
Because fear can have a protective effect. It throttles the appetite for risk, which does not necessarily have to be bad.
Crippling fear, however, already affects many people’s normal lives. When fear becomes so predominant, then it is already a critical state that needs immediate attention.
Panic attacks and unfounded anxiety don’t just develop out of nowhere. There is always a reason for them to manifest.
Finding out the underlying reasons is the job of a psychiatrist. I would just like to give a few tips here that can help to prevent fear from obtaining too much space in your heart, mind and soul.
Anxiety is often already present, long before the associated event even takes place. So you fear something that will only take place in the future.
That is exactly what is sick about worrying about something that hasn’t even occurred yet. People start to imagine worst-case scenarios on a daily basis.
If we would turn these vivid visualizations into movies, our movie theaters would be filled with one box office hit after another.
Those who waste their creativity in such moments do not live in the present, but in the future and there is also where their fear lies.
A tip would be to live consciously in the present, to tell yourself that there is still a long way to go until tomorrow and, if possible, not to think about tomorrow.
Be still for a few minutes every day, and ask yourself if there is any reason for fear right this instant. Your answer will undoubtedly be that you do not need to fear anything, as you have everything you need at the present moment.
What’s the worst that can happen?
Also very helpful is the question of what can happen in the worst case, such as:
Fear of thunderstorms and electric lightning
Nothing can happen in a protective building. At most, the lightning may strike the house. Then the insurance takes effect and the damage is repairable. There is therefore no risk of death.
Fear of job loss
Anyone who becomes unemployed is entitled to unemployment benefits. Those who make an effort will soon get a job again, and most likely even a better one than before.
Life sometimes takes you out of your old routine and comfort zone, in order to upgrade you. Nobody has to starve to death in our country. So again, life is not in danger.
Fear is only really justified when life is at stake. However, this is exactly not the case with most fears. So why be afraid?
It is very difficult to let go of existing fear. But it’s possible to get over it, and you can be living fearlessly and happily, again.
If your fears are consuming and/or controlling you, then you should urgently seek professional help, because every day that you live with fear is actually a lost day.
